Fog Over Croisan Valley (17 x 23 watercolor) $600
This painting is a little closer to home than most of my recent work. I see this view every morning on the way home from my walk down Croisan Scenic Trail. The trial occupies a long thin, Salem park with our neighborhood a hundred feet above it and Croisan Creek a few hundred feet below it. The path is beautiful in all seasons and rarely feels nearly as close to town as it is. It’s particularly evocative in the fog.

Snapshot Cafe (watercolor 14 x 23) $600
Despite the lack of canals and only a single bicycle, this is Amsterdam on a summer evening. But it could be anyone of a number of European street scenes.
The title is a bit of a pun. I painted the picture from a series of snapshots, and girls in the foreground are sharing a snapshot. I hope the atmospheric nature of the painting has little to do with snapshots.

Between the Showers on HWY 101 (watercolor 10 x 14) SOLD
This January we spent a weekend in Lincoln City. It being January in Oregon; it rained at lot; it was often foggy; and in between the sun shone. I took the photo for this little painting in the car on the way to wave watch in Depot Bay. Before we reached Depot Bay it rained again and then the sun came out to stay for the afternoon.
This painting has sold, but you may still purchase a print from Fine Art America.com.
The Sun Peeks Out at 2nd Street (10 x 14 watercolor) $250
Once again the sun on wet pavement caught my eye. But this time it’s mid afternoon and threatening to rain again soon. The light was spectacular. Sunlight streaming from between the clouds always seems so much brighter.
The street is the Corvallis street I know best, SW 2nd looking south toward Art in the Valley and The New Morning Bakery.
The palate is what is becoming my new standard: phthalo blue, cobalt blue, quinacridone brown madder, and raw sienna. I painted conventionally working from light to dark in multiple transparent layers. The “blacks” are phthalo blue and brown madder.
Available through Art in the Valley, Corvallis, Oregon. Or purchase a print through Fine Art America.
